Denim & Jeans

Denim is sized by waist. Many of the brands we carry — including Judy Blue, RISEN and KanCan — label sizes as a number followed by the waist measurement, for example 7(28).

Tummy-control denim: Styles with a tummy-control waistband run more generous than standard denim. If you are between sizes in these, size down — the compression panel adds structure and takes up the extra room.

How to Measure

Use a soft tape measure over your underwear, not over clothing. Keep the tape level and snug, but not tight enough to compress.

Bust — measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level across your back.
Waist — measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, usually just above the belly button. Don't hold your breath.
Hip — stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
Inseam — measure from the top of your inner thigh down to where you want the hem to fall, in the shoes you plan to wear.

Still Between Sizes?

If you land between two sizes, the fabric decides it:

Woven, non-stretch (most shirts, blazers, structured dresses) — size up.
Heavy stretch (leggings, ponte, tummy-control denim) — size down.
Oversized or relaxed styles — take your usual size; the extra room is already built in.

The buttons are decorative — it pulls on

Worth being clear about, because it changes how you wear it. The button placket is a design detail rather than a working closure, so this doesn't open down the front like a true shirt dress. You get into it over your head, and the smocked bodice is what makes that comfortable.

The upside of smocking is that it shapes itself to you rather than needing to fit exactly — which is why this works across a wide size run without a belt or a zip.

It's a short dress

The length runs 32.7" to 34.6" from the shoulder, which sits above the knee on most heights. If you're expecting a midi or a longer shirt dress, this is shorter than that. It works well over slim jeans or opaque tights if you want more coverage.
