Denim & Jeans

Denim is sized by waist. Many of the brands we carry — including Judy Blue, RISEN and KanCan — label sizes as a number followed by the waist measurement, for example 7(28).

Tummy-control denim: Styles with a tummy-control waistband run more generous than standard denim. If you are between sizes in these, size down — the compression panel adds structure and takes up the extra room.

How to Measure

Use a soft tape measure over your underwear, not over clothing. Keep the tape level and snug, but not tight enough to compress.

Bust — measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level across your back.
Waist — measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, usually just above the belly button. Don't hold your breath.
Hip — stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
Inseam — measure from the top of your inner thigh down to where you want the hem to fall, in the shoes you plan to wear.

Still Between Sizes?

If you land between two sizes, the fabric decides it:

Woven, non-stretch (most shirts, blazers, structured dresses) — size up.
Heavy stretch (leggings, ponte, tummy-control denim) — size down.
Oversized or relaxed styles — take your usual size; the extra room is already built in.

The full-length zip closes it against a breeze, the hood adds a bit of coverage when the wind picks up, and the knit stays light enough to keep on once you're inside.

Why you'll reach for it

A zip, not buttons. It stays closed on its own, so you're not holding it shut with one hand.

Fabric and fit

Knit from a blend of 50% viscose, 28% polyester, and 22% polyamide.

The viscose is what makes it feel smooth and cool against the skin; the polyester and polyamide are what keep the shape and the stripes looking right wash after wash.

The knit is slightly stretchy rather than rigid.

Sizes S through XL. Body length runs 22" on the small to 23.8" on the extra large, with a bust of 41.7" to 47.2" — enough room to layer a tee or a thin long-sleeve underneath. If you're between sizes or plan to wear something bulkier under it, go up one.

Zipped over a tank with straight-leg jeans and white sneakers — the everyday version.
Open and pushed back like a light jacket over a fitted dress.
Zipped halfway with the hood out, over a collared shirt.
With leggings on travel days. It's light enough to stuff into a carry-on and shake out at the other end.

Questions we get

Does it run true to size? The cut is relaxed rather than fitted. Measure across your bust and compare it to the chart above — that's more reliable than your usual letter size, and it's the quickest way to avoid a return.

How warm is it? It's a lightweight knit, so think spring and fall layering rather than deep winter. Over a long-sleeve tee it handles a chilly evening comfortably.

Can it go in the dryer? Yes, on low. Washing cold and drying low is what keeps the stripes sharp and the knit from stretching out.

Is the zip full length? Yes — it runs the full front, so you can wear it fully closed, halfway, or open like a cardigan.
