Denim is sized by waist. Many of the brands we carry — including Judy Blue, RISEN and KanCan — label sizes as a number followed by the waist measurement, for example 7(28).

Tummy-control denim: Styles with a tummy-control waistband run more generous than standard denim. If you are between sizes in these, size down — the compression panel adds structure and takes up the extra room.

How to Measure

Use a soft tape measure over your underwear, not over clothing. Keep the tape level and snug, but not tight enough to compress.

Bust — measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level across your back.
Waist — measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, usually just above the belly button. Don't hold your breath.
Hip — stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
Inseam — measure from the top of your inner thigh down to where you want the hem to fall, in the shoes you plan to wear.

Still Between Sizes?

If you land between two sizes, the fabric decides it:

Woven, non-stretch (most shirts, blazers, structured dresses) — size up.
Heavy stretch (leggings, ponte, tummy-control denim) — size down.
Oversized or relaxed styles — take your usual size; the extra room is already built in.

A floor-length black mesh dress with long sleeves, cut close and left completely unlined. This is a layering piece by design — it's meant to go over a slip, a bodysuit, or a swimsuit, and it's built to show what's underneath. Sizes run XS through 3XL.

Say it plainly: this dress is sheer

The fabric is a sheer mesh and there is no lining. Worn on its own it will be see-through. That is the point of the design, not a flaw — but it's the single most important thing to know before ordering, so here it is up front rather than buried in the specs.

What to wear underneath

A black slip dress for the most straightforward version — solid where you want it, sheer at the arms and hem.
A bodysuit with the mesh over the top, so the legs read sheer and the body doesn't.
A swimsuit, which is what a long mesh dress is best at — it's a proper beach cover-up that doesn't look like one.
Nothing but confidence and good lighting, if that's the evening you had in mind.

Fit and fabric

100% polyester mesh with a slight stretch. The cut is close: the bust measures 33.9" at S and 44.9" at 3XL, which is narrower than a typical woven dress, and the stretch is what makes it work rather than extra fabric. Size up if you'd rather it skimmed than clung.

Length runs 51.2" to 53.1" from the shoulder — ankle-length on most heights. Sleeves measure 23.6" to 25.6", so they cover the wrist.

Before you order

How sheer is sheer? Fully. It's mesh with no lining anywhere — body, sleeves, and skirt all the same. Buy it as a layer, not as a standalone dress.

Does mesh snag? It can, on rings and rough nails. Wash it in a mesh laundry bag on cold and it will hold up fine.

Which size should I take? The bust measurements run narrow for the labels. Compare your own bust measurement to the chart above rather than ordering your usual letter size, and size up if you want it to skim.
