Denim is sized by waist. Many of the brands we carry — including Judy Blue, RISEN and KanCan — label sizes as a number followed by the waist measurement, for example 7(28).

Tummy-control denim: Styles with a tummy-control waistband run more generous than standard denim. If you are between sizes in these, size down — the compression panel adds structure and takes up the extra room.

How to Measure

Use a soft tape measure over your underwear, not over clothing. Keep the tape level and snug, but not tight enough to compress.

Bust — measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level across your back.
Waist — measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, usually just above the belly button. Don't hold your breath.
Hip — stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
Inseam — measure from the top of your inner thigh down to where you want the hem to fall, in the shoes you plan to wear.

Still Between Sizes?

If you land between two sizes, the fabric decides it:

Woven, non-stretch (most shirts, blazers, structured dresses) — size up.
Heavy stretch (leggings, ponte, tummy-control denim) — size down.
Oversized or relaxed styles — take your usual size; the extra room is already built in.

Open Front Long Sleeve Trench Coat

An open-front trench in a short, hip-skimming length, with a drawstring at the waist and real pockets. Three colors: tan, moss green, and dark gray. It comes in one size, cut generously.

Two things to know first

It's short, not long. The body measures around 30" from the shoulder, which puts the hem at the hip or upper thigh on most heights — a cropped trench rather than the knee-length classic. That's a different coat to style: it works over wide-leg trousers and long skirts in a way a full-length trench doesn't.

It's one size, and that size is roomy. The bust measures about 55", so it's built to fall open over layers rather than to fit close. On a smaller frame it will read as deliberately oversized; the drawstring is there to pull the waist in if you'd rather it had a shape.

Open front. No buttons to line up, no closure to gap — it's a layer, and it hangs.
Drawstring waist, so you can go from straight and boxy to cinched without changing anything else.
Pockets.
Unlined, which keeps it light and makes it a transitional coat rather than a winter one.
Three colors: tan for the classic trench read, moss for something less expected, dark gray for the most wearable of the three.

How to wear it

Open over a monochrome outfit, letting the coat be the shape.
Drawstring pulled in over a fitted dress.
With wide-leg trousers — the short length keeps the leg line visible, which a long coat would hide.
Sleeves pushed up, over a knit, in that stretch of autumn that isn't cold yet.

Questions we get

Will one size fit me? At roughly 55" around the bust and 30" long, it's cut to fall open over a range of body types rather than to fit any one closely. It runs generous.

Is it warm? Mid-weight and unlined — a spring and fall coat, or a layer under something heavier in winter. Not a cold-weather coat on its own.

Is it waterproof? No. It's a trench in cut and style rather than a rain coat in function.
