Denim & Jeans

Denim is sized by waist. Many of the brands we carry — including Judy Blue, RISEN and KanCan — label sizes as a number followed by the waist measurement, for example 7(28).

Tummy-control denim: Styles with a tummy-control waistband run more generous than standard denim. If you are between sizes in these, size down — the compression panel adds structure and takes up the extra room.

How to Measure

Use a soft tape measure over your underwear, not over clothing. Keep the tape level and snug, but not tight enough to compress.

Bust — measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level across your back.
Waist — measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, usually just above the belly button. Don't hold your breath.
Hip — stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
Inseam — measure from the top of your inner thigh down to where you want the hem to fall, in the shoes you plan to wear.

Still Between Sizes?

If you land between two sizes, the fabric decides it:

Woven, non-stretch (most shirts, blazers, structured dresses) — size up.
Heavy stretch (leggings, ponte, tummy-control denim) — size down.
Oversized or relaxed styles — take your usual size; the extra room is already built in.

The belt is part of the dress rather than something you supply, which matters on a button-front maxi — left loose it hangs straight, and the belt is what turns it into a shape. And the pockets mean a floor-length dress you can actually put a phone in.

Patchwork plaid is a deliberate choice

A single continuous plaid across a full-length dress is a lot of one pattern. Patchwork breaks it up: panels set at different angles or scales, so the eye has somewhere to travel. It's the reason a patchwork plaid maxi reads as designed while a plain plaid maxi can read as fabric.

Royal blue keeps it from going rustic. The same construction in browns and greens would be a country dress; in blue it's something else.

A note on the fit

The bust runs 35.4" at S up to 45.3" at 3XL, which is narrower than most dresses at the same label. The knit has a slight stretch, but go by the bust measurement rather than your usual letter size — particularly at the smaller end.

Is this plus size? The range runs S through 3XL, so it's extended sizing rather than plus-only — and the bust runs narrow, so order by measurement.

Is it lined? No. Worth a slip underneath.

How do I keep plaid crisp? Cold wash, low heat, and hang it to dry if you can. Long dresses crease along the fold line if they sit crumpled in a dryer.
