Denim & Jeans

Denim is sized by waist. Many of the brands we carry — including Judy Blue, RISEN and KanCan — label sizes as a number followed by the waist measurement, for example 7(28).

Tummy-control denim: Styles with a tummy-control waistband run more generous than standard denim. If you are between sizes in these, size down — the compression panel adds structure and takes up the extra room.

How to Measure

Use a soft tape measure over your underwear, not over clothing. Keep the tape level and snug, but not tight enough to compress.

Bust — measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level across your back.
Waist — measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, usually just above the belly button. Don't hold your breath.
Hip — stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
Inseam — measure from the top of your inner thigh down to where you want the hem to fall, in the shoes you plan to wear.

Still Between Sizes?

If you land between two sizes, the fabric decides it:

Woven, non-stretch (most shirts, blazers, structured dresses) — size up.
Heavy stretch (leggings, ponte, tummy-control denim) — size down.
Oversized or relaxed styles — take your usual size; the extra room is already built in.

Leading with this because it's the thing most people want and rarely get. A full-length dress with somewhere to put your phone means you can leave the bag behind, and it's the single most common request in womenswear that goes unanswered.

Why the slit matters more than it looks

A full-length dress with no opening restricts your stride. That's the practical problem with maxis, and it's why people who love the look often find they don't reach for it. A side slit fixes it — you walk normally, and the fabric moves instead of holding you in place.

At 54.3" to 55.9" from the shoulder, this one is a genuine floor-length maxi, so the slit is doing real work rather than decoration.

These measurements were taken by hand from the garment and may vary by roughly 0.4 to 1.2 inches.

Good to know

Is it lined? No. Worth planning for in the lighter colors — a slip or seamless underwear settles it.

Will it be too long? At around 55" from the shoulder it's cut for average height. If you're petite, a heel or a hem sorts it — but check where the slit lands before shortening.

Which color is easiest? Black goes anywhere. Apricot looks best in summer light.
