Denim & Jeans

Denim is sized by waist. Many of the brands we carry — including Judy Blue, RISEN and KanCan — label sizes as a number followed by the waist measurement, for example 7(28).

Tummy-control denim: Styles with a tummy-control waistband run more generous than standard denim. If you are between sizes in these, size down — the compression panel adds structure and takes up the extra room.

How to Measure

Use a soft tape measure over your underwear, not over clothing. Keep the tape level and snug, but not tight enough to compress.

Bust — measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level across your back.
Waist — measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, usually just above the belly button. Don't hold your breath.
Hip — stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
Inseam — measure from the top of your inner thigh down to where you want the hem to fall, in the shoes you plan to wear.

Still Between Sizes?

If you land between two sizes, the fabric decides it:

Woven, non-stretch (most shirts, blazers, structured dresses) — size up.
Heavy stretch (leggings, ponte, tummy-control denim) — size down.
Oversized or relaxed styles — take your usual size; the extra room is already built in.

A deep red drop-shoulder sweatshirt with western patchwork across the front — cow print pieced together with other western motifs, so it reads as assembled rather than printed. Sizes S through 2XL.

What you're getting

Patchwork western graphic. Cow print worked in among the other pieces, in the style that's carried country and western dressing for the last few years.
Deep red rather than the usual tan or black. It's the color choice that keeps this from looking like every other cow print sweatshirt.
Dropped shoulders. The seam sits down the arm, giving a relaxed line and more room to move.
A real 50/50 blend. Half cotton, half polyester — soft from the first wear, and it holds its shape.
Sizes S to 2XL, cut generously through the body.

Fabric and fit

50% polyester, 50% cotton, with a slight stretch. That ratio is the classic sweatshirt blend for a reason: the cotton half is what you feel against your skin, and the polyester half is what stops it shrinking down two sizes in the dryer. The body runs long, sitting at or below the hip, and the dropped shoulder means the fit is loose through the upper arm.

How to wear it

With jeans and boots. This one has an obvious home and there's no reason to fight it.
Over a denim skirt with tights when it's cold.
Half-tucked into high-waisted jeans so the graphic stays fully visible.
Under a denim or shearling jacket.

Good to know

Will the graphic crack? Wash it inside out on cold and keep the dryer low. Heat is what breaks down any surface graphic over time, far more than washing.

Does it shrink? A 50/50 blend shrinks noticeably less than all-cotton, but it isn't immune. Cold wash and low heat.

Is deep red hard to match? Less than you'd think. It works with denim in every wash, with black, and with tan or cream.
