How to pack for a staycation

If you want to avoid the sweltering heat of summer, your best bet is to head somewhere where it’s cooler—but, if you live in an area where temperatures are often high, you might not be able to afford the plane ticket or go on vacation all the time. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to stay cool without having to go anywhere at all! The secret? Outfits that wick moisture away from your body, keeping you dry and comfortable even when outside conditions aren’t ideal. Read on for some helpful ideas on how to stay cool this summer and prepare yourself for the season ahead.

Summer Staycations Are Easy

Most people look forward to vacations every year, but some are only able to afford one or two per year. Not everyone can afford expensive plane tickets and hotel stays, but there are still ways you can enjoy some time off from work. Take advantage of your weekends by packing up and heading into town. Pack some delicious snacks, pack light so you don’t strain yourself carrying too much, and be sure to take advantage of your local library or museum! Here are few things that may make staying in easier * A car if possible. * An air mattress or foam mattress pad * Comfortable clothes * An extra towel * Good books/games/movies (no spoilers!) * Pillow(s) * Snacks! Don’t forget about water, though—your body needs it even when you’re not traveling. You can also visit with friends, family members, and neighbors during your staycation. If you’re feeling adventurous, consider exploring new areas near where you live; no matter what you do during your staycation, just remember to relax and have fun!

Summer Staycations Shouldn’t Cost a Lot

It’s easy to get lulled into thinking that you have to take trips or attend special events in order to appreciate your time off. However, there are plenty of ways you can enjoy your summer without shelling out hundreds or thousands of dollars. With some careful planning and an open mind, you can have fun and avoid spending too much cash at once. Here are a few ideas 1) Stay close to home. 2) Get creative with activities—you don’t need expensive things like ziplining and whitewater rafting; parks and libraries offer tons of free opportunities for exploration. 3) Host your own barbecue or potluck—just be sure to bring something other than hot dogs! 4) Hit up community festivals—many towns hold local celebrations throughout the summer months, giving you a chance to explore new neighborhoods while having fun with friends and family. 5) Take advantage of sales and discounts—many stores have great deals on summer clothing right now, so if you’re looking to stock up on new swimsuits or beachwear, now is a great time to do it. 6) Visit museums—museums often host special events during weekends when they aren’t as busy.

Summer Staycations Work Well with Kids

Packing can be stressful if you don’t know what to bring. Use these tips and tricks when packing, then sit back and enjoy your staycation in style! Some vacationers might believe that staying at home doesn’t have much of an upside. But with a little bit of planning, you can have just as good—if not better—of a time than if you took off for a beach or mountain resort. All it takes is some careful preparation and creativity. To get started, here are some basic things to remember: Staycations are about making memories together as a family, so keep that in mind when packing for your trip. It’s also important to make sure everyone is comfortable during their staycation. If you have children who will be sharing a room with other siblings or cousins, make sure they each have enough space to spread out while they sleep. And if you’re traveling with another adult, try to find accommodations that offer separate bedrooms. Here are a few more helpful hints for creating an enjoyable staycation experience: 1) Plan your meals ahead of time. 2) Bring board games or something else fun to do together as a group.

10 Outfits That Work For Every Day of Your Staycation

The days are longer, warmer and more inviting. Do you dare say stay in for summer? We do! But we still need outfits that don’t look like pajamas. Here are 10 outfits you can mix and match from day to night. Whether it’s your backyard or beachside vacation spot, these looks will keep you looking fresh all season long. Ready, set, go...vacation!
Warm-Weather Outfit #1: Short Sleeve Tee + Wide Leg Pants + Sandals + Sunglasses: There is no shortage of cute wide leg pants out there right now—and what better way to show them off than with a pair of heeled sandals? We love how stylish and easygoing they make us feel—which means we won’t mind hanging around at home when it gets too hot outside. And, if you have an upcoming vacation, these outfits are perfect for packing light! Just pick up some bright colored shirts or patterned bottoms to mix and match. And don’t forget your sunglasses! You can wear them anytime you want to look extra chic (or hide from your kids).
Warm-Weather Outfit #2: Maxi Dress + Heels + Statement Necklace: Summer is all about looking chic while still feeling cool in any heat wave that comes our way. And what better way to do that than with a maxi dress? We love how breezy and light they are—and, best of all, you can wear them over and over again! Just swap out your accessories or shoes depending on where you’re headed. A pair of wedges or strappy sandals will look great with an evening maxi dress; keep it casual with a pair of sneakers or flats if you’re heading out during the day. Warm-Weather Outfit #3: Denim Shorts + Crop Top + Sandals + Hat: If there’s one thing we know about summer, it’s that denim shorts never go out of style. And why would they? They’re perfect for almost every occasion. Pair yours with a crop top (for some extra coverage) and your favorite sandals—we like ours with a little heel to show off our pedicures! Throw on a hat when you head outside to block some sun, but take it off when you’re at home so you don’t get too hot.
Warm-Weather Outfit #4: Floral Romper + Wedges + Bracelet Set: There is no reason to shy away from florals in summertime—the bolder, brighter and more fun, the better! We love rompers because they are cute AND comfortable. Pair yours with wedges (for some extra height) and a statement bracelet set (to add some extra sparkle). It’s basically an outfit made in heaven.
Warm-Weather Outfit #5: Striped Dress+ Strappy Sandals + Statement Necklace: Summer nights can be just as hot as summer days—so it’s important to look chic without overheating! We love how fun and flirty a striped dress is. It looks great with strappy sandals (that won’t make your feet sweat) and an oversized statement necklace.
Warm-Weather Outfit #6: Floral Top + Denim Shorts + Wedges + Bracelet Set: The key to looking cute in denim shorts is pairing them with something that covers up your legs—like a long top or dress. We love how fun and flirty our floral top looks paired with denim shorts and wedges (for some extra height). And, don’t forget your favorite bracelet set!
Warm-Weather Outfit #7: White Tee + Maxi Skirt+ Heels + Statement Necklace: Summer doesn’t have to be all about bright colors and bold patterns. Sometimes, it’s just as fun to look chic in white! We love how breezy and light our maxi skirt is—and that it looks great with a simple white tee (that can double as an extra layer on cooler summer nights).
Warm-Weather Outfit #8: Denim Shorts + Crop Top + Sandals + Bracelet Set: Denim shorts are basically made for summer—but they don’t always look cute when paired with bare legs. We love how our denim shorts look with a crop top (for some extra coverage) and sandals (that won’t make your feet sweat). And, of course, we can’t forget our favorite bracelet set!
Warm-Weather Outfit #9: Floral Romper + Casual Top + Statement Necklace: Floral rompers are just as fun in warm weather as they are in cold weather. We love how breezy and light our floral romper is—and that it looks great with wedges (for some extra height) and an oversized statement necklace.
Warm-Weather Outfit #10: White Tee + Denim Shorts + Heels + Bracelet Set: Sometimes, you want to look cute but still be comfortable—and that’s where denim shorts come into play! We love how our white tee looks with denim shorts and heels (for some extra height). And, of course, we can’t forget our favorite bracelet set!
