Denim is sized by waist. Many of the brands we carry — including Judy Blue, RISEN and KanCan — label sizes as a number followed by the waist measurement, for example 7(28).

Tummy-control denim: Styles with a tummy-control waistband run more generous than standard denim. If you are between sizes in these, size down — the compression panel adds structure and takes up the extra room.

How to Measure

Use a soft tape measure over your underwear, not over clothing. Keep the tape level and snug, but not tight enough to compress.

Bust — measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level across your back.
Waist — measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, usually just above the belly button. Don't hold your breath.
Hip — stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
Inseam — measure from the top of your inner thigh down to where you want the hem to fall, in the shoes you plan to wear.

Still Between Sizes?

If you land between two sizes, the fabric decides it:

Woven, non-stretch (most shirts, blazers, structured dresses) — size up.
Heavy stretch (leggings, ponte, tummy-control denim) — size down.
Oversized or relaxed styles — take your usual size; the extra room is already built in.

What is the finished inseam?
The supplied product measurements list S: 28.5 inches; M: 28.7 inches; L: 28.9 inches; XL: 29.1 inches. Measurements are taken manually and may vary by 0.4–1.2 inches.

What is the rise?
Front and back rise measurements have not been supplied. Please contact us for confirmation before ordering if rise is important to your fit. The supplier’s “Top Length” is not a rise or shoulder-to-crotch measurement.

Does it suit a shorter torso?
A shorter torso may leave extra fabric through the bodice or a lower-sitting crotch. The wide-leg silhouette alone does not establish torso fit; this style has not been verified as short-torso friendly.

Does it suit a longer torso?
A longer torso needs enough shoulder-to-crotch room to sit and move without pulling. Wide legs do not add torso length, and this style has not been verified as long-torso friendly. Confirm the garment’s torso measurement before choosing a size.

How should I measure?
Compare with a jumpsuit that fits comfortably. Measure the finished inseam along the inside leg from the crotch seam to the hem. For rise, measure from the crotch seam to the waist seam at the front and back, if there is a defined waist seam. Also compare shoulder-to-crotch length for torso fit. Use the same measurement method when comparing garments; do not calculate rise or torso length by subtracting inseam from “Top Length.”
