Denim & Jeans

Denim is sized by waist. Many of the brands we carry — including Judy Blue, RISEN and KanCan — label sizes as a number followed by the waist measurement, for example 7(28).

Tummy-control denim: Styles with a tummy-control waistband run more generous than standard denim. If you are between sizes in these, size down — the compression panel adds structure and takes up the extra room.

How to Measure

Use a soft tape measure over your underwear, not over clothing. Keep the tape level and snug, but not tight enough to compress.

Bust — measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level across your back.
Waist — measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, usually just above the belly button. Don't hold your breath.
Hip — stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
Inseam — measure from the top of your inner thigh down to where you want the hem to fall, in the shoes you plan to wear.

Still Between Sizes?

If you land between two sizes, the fabric decides it:

Woven, non-stretch (most shirts, blazers, structured dresses) — size up.
Heavy stretch (leggings, ponte, tummy-control denim) — size down.
Oversized or relaxed styles — take your usual size; the extra room is already built in.

Why the trim is the whole design

A plain cardigan has no line. Adding a contrasting edge draws a border around the entire garment: down both sides of the front opening, around the neck, around each cuff. It's a small amount of yarn doing a large amount of work — it turns a soft, shapeless knit into something with a defined outline.

It's also the detail that makes a simple cardigan look considered rather than default, which is why it shows up on everything from Chanel jackets to varsity knits.

The proportions are unusual

Two numbers worth knowing. The body is short — 18.9" to 20.7" from the shoulder, which puts the hem at or above the natural waist. And the sleeves are long, running 29.1" to 30.3".

Cropped body, generous sleeve. It's a deliberate silhouette and a good one over a high waist, but it isn't a cardigan that covers your hips.

These measurements were taken by hand from the garment and may vary by roughly 0.4 to 1.2 inches.

Before you order

How do I keep the ivory clean? Wash cold and separately from anything dark, particularly for the first few washes — contrast trim means two yarns in one garment, and one can bleed into the other.

Are the sleeves really 30 inches? They run long by design. If you like a cuff pushed up, you'll have plenty to work with.

Buttoned or open? Both work, but the trim is more visible open, where it outlines the full front opening.
