Denim is sized by waist. Many of the brands we carry — including Judy Blue, RISEN and KanCan — label sizes as a number followed by the waist measurement, for example 7(28).

Tummy-control denim: Styles with a tummy-control waistband run more generous than standard denim. If you are between sizes in these, size down — the compression panel adds structure and takes up the extra room.

How to Measure

Use a soft tape measure over your underwear, not over clothing. Keep the tape level and snug, but not tight enough to compress.

Bust — measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level across your back.
Waist — measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, usually just above the belly button. Don't hold your breath.
Hip — stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
Inseam — measure from the top of your inner thigh down to where you want the hem to fall, in the shoes you plan to wear.

Still Between Sizes?

If you land between two sizes, the fabric decides it:

Woven, non-stretch (most shirts, blazers, structured dresses) — size up.
Heavy stretch (leggings, ponte, tummy-control denim) — size down.
Oversized or relaxed styles — take your usual size; the extra room is already built in.

Black Tie Wedding Guest Dress in Sequin

Black tie asks for floor length. That is the one rule that actually holds — most of the dress code is negotiable, but a hem stopping above the ankle will read underdressed in the photographs. This is a floor-length sequin maxi in black, ruched through the body, in sizes to 2XL.

Floor length: the requirement black tie genuinely enforces.
All-over sequin: catches light under a chandelier rather than going flat.
Ruched through the body: gathers rather than clings, which sequin fabrics often do.
Black: the safest colour in a formal room, and the one that photographs most reliably.
Sizes S to 2XL.

Reading the invitation

The wording matters more than people expect:

Black tie — floor-length gown. This dress fits.
Black tie optional or formal — a floor-length gown or a very dressy midi. This works, and so would a satin maxi.
Cocktail — knee to midi length. A floor-length sequin would be too much here; the cocktail styles suit that better.

What this is, plainly

An affordable sequin gown. It does the job for a black tie wedding, a formal gala or a New Year's party. If the invitation says white tie, or you need something bespoke, this is not that dress — and we would rather say so than have it arrive and disappoint.

What to wear it with

Sequin carries the whole look, so keep jewellery minimal — studs rather than a statement necklace. A clutch, and a heel you can actually stand in for several hours.
