Denim is sized by waist. Many of the brands we carry — including Judy Blue, RISEN and KanCan — label sizes as a number followed by the waist measurement, for example 7(28).

Tummy-control denim: Styles with a tummy-control waistband run more generous than standard denim. If you are between sizes in these, size down — the compression panel adds structure and takes up the extra room.

How to Measure

Use a soft tape measure over your underwear, not over clothing. Keep the tape level and snug, but not tight enough to compress.

Bust — measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level across your back.
Waist — measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, usually just above the belly button. Don't hold your breath.
Hip — stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
Inseam — measure from the top of your inner thigh down to where you want the hem to fall, in the shoes you plan to wear.

Still Between Sizes?

If you land between two sizes, the fabric decides it:

Woven, non-stretch (most shirts, blazers, structured dresses) — size up.
Heavy stretch (leggings, ponte, tummy-control denim) — size down.
Oversized or relaxed styles — take your usual size; the extra room is already built in.

A long sleeve sweater in taupe with a geometric pattern worked across it. Taupe is the quiet part — a warm grey-brown that sits between neutral and colored — and the pattern is what stops it disappearing.

Why geometric beats floral for a sweater

Floral knits are seasonal; they announce spring. A geometric pattern has no season attached to it, which means a sweater like this reads as correct in October and in March. It's also the pattern type that scales best in knitwear, because knitting is built from repeating stitches and geometry is what that structure does naturally.

In taupe, the pattern registers as texture from a distance and as design up close — which is the useful combination.

Long sleeves, genuinely

The sleeves run 27" to 28.9", which is long — several inches past a standard sweater sleeve. If you like a cuff that covers the wrist or pushes back into a fold, you'll have length to work with. If you dislike sleeves past your hand, this is worth knowing first.

These measurements were taken by hand from the garment and may vary by roughly 0.4 to 1.2 inches.

Good to know

What color is taupe, exactly? A warm grey with brown in it. It behaves like a neutral but reads softer than true grey.

Are the sleeves too long? They're cut generously at 27"–29". Most people push them back; if you want a sleeve that ends at the wrist bone, size down or plan on folding.

How should I store it? Folded. Hanging a knit puts its whole weight on two points at the shoulder.
