Denim & Jeans

Denim is sized by waist. Many of the brands we carry — including Judy Blue, RISEN and KanCan — label sizes as a number followed by the waist measurement, for example 7(28).

Tummy-control denim: Styles with a tummy-control waistband run more generous than standard denim. If you are between sizes in these, size down — the compression panel adds structure and takes up the extra room.

How to Measure

Use a soft tape measure over your underwear, not over clothing. Keep the tape level and snug, but not tight enough to compress.

Bust — measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level across your back.
Waist — measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, usually just above the belly button. Don't hold your breath.
Hip — stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
Inseam — measure from the top of your inner thigh down to where you want the hem to fall, in the shoes you plan to wear.

Still Between Sizes?

If you land between two sizes, the fabric decides it:

Woven, non-stretch (most shirts, blazers, structured dresses) — size up.
Heavy stretch (leggings, ponte, tummy-control denim) — size down.
Oversized or relaxed styles — take your usual size; the extra room is already built in.

High-waisted wide-leg jeans that end in a ruffle, with pockets. Four colorways: black, sky blue, and a medium and dark wash. Sizes S through XXL.

What the ruffle does

A wide-leg jean already moves; the ruffle makes that movement visible. Where a plain hem falls in a straight line, this one flutters slightly with each step, which is why the shape reads softer and more feminine than the same jean cut plain.

It also draws the eye down to the ankle, which is part of why a high waist and a detailed hem work well together — interest at both ends of a long line.

Real cotton denim

95% cotton with 5% spandex. That's a high cotton content for a printed or detailed jean, and it's what makes these feel like denim rather than a soft trouser — with just enough spandex to give at the seat and knee.

How to wear them

A tucked-in fitted top, so the high waist reads and the ruffle isn't competing with a long hem.
A flat shoe or a low heel — something chunky at the ankle will fight the ruffle.
Sky blue with white on top for the lightest version; black with black for the sharpest.
A cropped jacket rather than a long one; the hem detail should stay in view.

These measurements were taken by hand from the garment and may vary by roughly 0.4 to 1.2 inches.

Good to know

Will the ruffle stay crisp? Cold wash, low heat, and shake it out before it dries. A ruffle that dries crushed stays crushed.

Can they be hemmed? Not easily — shortening them means cutting off the ruffle, which is the feature. Check the 40"–41.7" length against your height before ordering rather than planning to alter.

How should I size? By hip. It runs 42.5" to 51.2" across the range, and that's where a high-waisted wide leg is decided.
