This is 100% polyester made to look and feel like suede, not animal hide. That matters mostly for one reason: you can machine wash it.
Real suede is ruined by water. It needs a specialist clean, it stains from rain, and one spilled drink is an expensive problem. Faux suede goes in the machine on cold and comes out fine.
