Denim & Jeans

Denim is sized by waist. Many of the brands we carry — including Judy Blue, RISEN and KanCan — label sizes as a number followed by the waist measurement, for example 7(28).

Tummy-control denim: Styles with a tummy-control waistband run more generous than standard denim. If you are between sizes in these, size down — the compression panel adds structure and takes up the extra room.

How to Measure

Use a soft tape measure over your underwear, not over clothing. Keep the tape level and snug, but not tight enough to compress.

Bust — measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level across your back.
Waist — measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, usually just above the belly button. Don't hold your breath.
Hip — stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
Inseam — measure from the top of your inner thigh down to where you want the hem to fall, in the shoes you plan to wear.

Still Between Sizes?

If you land between two sizes, the fabric decides it:

Woven, non-stretch (most shirts, blazers, structured dresses) — size up.
Heavy stretch (leggings, ponte, tummy-control denim) — size down.
Oversized or relaxed styles — take your usual size; the extra room is already built in.

Cable Knit V-Neck Sweater

A cable knit V-neck sweater in four colours — blue, black, grey and red — in sizes S to XL. Cable knit is the texture that stops a plain sweater looking plain, and the V-neck keeps it from feeling bulky at the throat the way a crew can.

Fit and how to size it

Cut straight through the body with set-in sleeves, so it layers over a shirt without the collar fighting the neckline. The knit has a slight stretch, which means it gives rather than strains across the bust — if you are between sizes, take the smaller one, since a knit with stretch recovers and a loose knit sags. Bust, waist and hip figures for each size are in the size chart.

What the cable knit sweater is made from

100% polyester. That is worth knowing rather than glossing over: it means no wool itch and no special care, it will not shrink, and it does not pill the way a cheap wool blend does — but it is also warmer than it is breathable, so it suits a cold office better than a mild day. Machine wash and tumble dry on low.

Wearing it

Over a collared shirt with the points out, or on its own with jeans and boots. The V-neck takes a pendant necklace well. More knits in women's sweaters and cardigans for women.
