Denim is sized by waist. Many of the brands we carry — including Judy Blue, RISEN and KanCan — label sizes as a number followed by the waist measurement, for example 7(28).

Tummy-control denim: Styles with a tummy-control waistband run more generous than standard denim. If you are between sizes in these, size down — the compression panel adds structure and takes up the extra room.

How to Measure

Use a soft tape measure over your underwear, not over clothing. Keep the tape level and snug, but not tight enough to compress.

Bust — measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level across your back.
Waist — measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, usually just above the belly button. Don't hold your breath.
Hip — stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
Inseam — measure from the top of your inner thigh down to where you want the hem to fall, in the shoes you plan to wear.

Still Between Sizes?

If you land between two sizes, the fabric decides it:

Woven, non-stretch (most shirts, blazers, structured dresses) — size up.
Heavy stretch (leggings, ponte, tummy-control denim) — size down.
Oversized or relaxed styles — take your usual size; the extra room is already built in.

A dress with a notched neckline, three-quarter sleeves and pockets, in blue, pink, red, and yellow. It runs S through 5XL — eight sizes, the widest range of anything in the store.

This one is 95% cotton

Almost everything at this price point is polyester. This isn't — it's 95% cotton with 5% spandex, which is why it will feel different on the first wear and better after ten. Cotton breathes, so it works in real heat rather than just looking like it should; the small spandex content is there so it moves with you and doesn't bag out at the elbow.

The trade-off is honest: cotton creases more than polyester, and it wants a cold wash and a low dryer to keep its size.

It's longer than "midi" suggests

The length runs 48" to 50.8" from the shoulder, which sits at the ankle on many people rather than mid-calf. If you're expecting a true midi, this is longer than that.

What a notched neckline does

A notch is a small V or cut-out at the center front. It sounds minor and it changes the whole neckline: instead of a closed round edge sitting flat against the collarbone, there's a point of interest that draws the eye up and lengthens the neck. It's what separates a plain shift from one that looks designed, and it costs nothing in comfort.

These measurements were taken by hand from the garment and may vary by roughly 0.4 to 1.2 inches.

Good to know

Is this a plus size dress? The run starts at S and goes to 5XL, so it covers both standard and extended sizing in one product. Order by the bust measurement, which runs narrower than the label suggests.

Will cotton shrink? A little on the first wash if it gets hot. Cold water and a low dryer setting keeps it minimal.

Which color for work? Blue is the most neutral of the four. Red and yellow are dinner colors.
