Denim & Jeans

Denim is sized by waist. Many of the brands we carry — including Judy Blue, RISEN and KanCan — label sizes as a number followed by the waist measurement, for example 7(28).

Tummy-control denim: Styles with a tummy-control waistband run more generous than standard denim. If you are between sizes in these, size down — the compression panel adds structure and takes up the extra room.

How to Measure

Use a soft tape measure over your underwear, not over clothing. Keep the tape level and snug, but not tight enough to compress.

Bust — measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level across your back.
Waist — measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, usually just above the belly button. Don't hold your breath.
Hip — stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
Inseam — measure from the top of your inner thigh down to where you want the hem to fall, in the shoes you plan to wear.

Still Between Sizes?

If you land between two sizes, the fabric decides it:

Woven, non-stretch (most shirts, blazers, structured dresses) — size up.
Heavy stretch (leggings, ponte, tummy-control denim) — size down.
Oversized or relaxed styles — take your usual size; the extra room is already built in.

A striped crew neck cut short — roughly 18" to 20" from the shoulder, which puts the hem at or just above the natural waist. Ribbed throughout, in four colors: khaki, red, blue, and apricot.

Read the length before you order

This is a cropped sweater, and the number is worth knowing: about 18" from the shoulder at the small, rising to just under 20" at the XL. For comparison, a standard crew neck runs 24" to 26". It ends at the waistband, not over it.

That's the design, and it's a good one — a cropped knit over a high waist is one of the most reliable proportions there is. But if you want a sweater that covers your hips, this isn't it.

Good to know

Will sizing up make it longer? Barely. The length grows less than two inches across the whole size run, so sizing up gets you width, not coverage.

Which color is easiest? Khaki and apricot are the quiet ones. Red is the one that becomes the outfit.

How do I stop stripes bleeding? Cold water, always. That's what keeps a light stripe from picking up the dark one over time.
